Portfolio — this site

The site you're looking at right now is itself a case study: a portfolio built from scratch, no template, with its own headless CMS to manage content without touching code, and a hand-built 3D hero scene instead of a downloaded asset.

The problem

A complete redesign of the previous portfolio, with one precise constraint: it had to work both for developer job applications and as a showcase for landing freelance clients, without looking like either a repurposed WordPress theme or a "wow" site empty of real technical content. Every case study needed to be able to tell a different architecture story (RAG with pgvector, a Flutter app, rules engines, ORM extensions) without forcing them into a template with identical fixed sections.

What it does

  • A hand-built 3D scene in the hero, not a downloaded template: the first impression already tells you what the person who built it does.
  • An "Explore in 3D" mode: a playful, alternative way to navigate the site by driving a small vehicle between sections.
  • A CMS of its own: every project, text and image updates independently, without touching a single line of code.
  • Top performance: 100/100 on Lighthouse — speed, accessibility, best practices and SEO — on every page.
  • A fully bilingual site (Italian/English), with every page and every case study translated, not just the menu.
  • A contact form that always works and is always reachable, without slowing down the rest of the site.

Architecture, tech stack and the real engineering problems solved along the way.
